Balancing Work and Life in Graduate School
Graduate school programs, with all their ups and downs, are notoriously stressful and sometimes damaging to the health of students if they do not learn to manage their stress effectively. I discuss overcoming personal obstacles during my graduate school journey to empower others to think creatively about how to build their ideal work-life balance, and improve their graduate school experience.
Transforming Conflict into Progress
Conflict is often thought of as a dynamic that must be avoided, particularly in work environments. For those who understand how to use conflict to their advantage and move through it rather than avoid it, conflict can instead be used as a transformative tool to progress toward justice, healing, and improved long-term outcomes. I will explain this process and how you can use it to move through a moment of conflict.
Approaches to Policy Change
At what point do we need to let go of our plans and expectations, and start over? This process can be frustrating for most people, leading to an unwillingness to change or feeling stuck with undesirable outcomes. I encourage problem-solvers to think creatively about when to use an incremental approach to change versus starting over in order to improve outcomes that may differ from status quo results.
Global Mindedness in Problem Solving
Learn how to think about problems comprehensively by incorporating a global perspective into your thinking. I will address the question,
How can thinking "bigger" or systemically help us find solutions to global and local issues?
